Odisha on late evening Sunday faced light to moderate rainfall as Cyclone Gulab crashed into an area in Andhra Pradesh, about 95 kilometers from Gopalpur province where a large number of people had been evacuated as a precautionary measure, officials said.
Five Sikakulam fishermen from Andhra Pradesh fell into the sea after strong waves hit their boat off the coast of Mandasa as they returned to sea in the evening. Police and other officers tried to rescue them.
In the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Gulab, 42 Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams, 24 NDRF teams, and 103 state fire services will be deployed. The evacuation work is also underway. Says the Official of Odisha.

A Cyclone warning has been issued in northern Andhra Pradesh and on the southern coast of Odisha including an ‘orange’ warning for the suburbs of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
The ‘orange’ Alert is issued as an extreme weather warning with potential disruptions to road and train closures, and disruptions to the power supply.
According to reports, Indian coastal guards have warned local fishermen in West Bengal of spreading extremist radio weather warnings in low-pressure areas in the Bay of Bengal.
During a press conference held earlier in the day, officials said that all seafarers on board and planes were reassuring fishermen at sea and directing them to return to port.

उन्होंने आगे कहा, “बंगाल की खाड़ी के ऊपर भी समुद्र की सतह का तापमान (SST) लगभग 31 डिग्री सेल्सियस है और अन्य सभी समुद्री और वायुमंडलीय परिस्थितियां चक्रवात (Yaas Cyclone update May23) के विकास के लिए अनुकूल हैं।”
